A very wet and millpond conditions met the 4 RG65s and 6 DF65s for a joint afternoons racing at Birkenhead. The wind barely got above a zephyr all afternoon but in the end 8 races were completed with the wind generally from the NW.
In the RG65 fleet, there was a welcome return of David Potter and all four boats racing were Pocket Rockets. Dave Williams, David Potter and Alan Watkinson all managed one race win each, although John Brierley showed good consistency to take out the remaining four races.
The DF65s, racing on a slightly shorter course, had very close racing with Club Secretary Colin Deakin winning 4 races to take the event. He was closely followed by Derek Mathews and Club Captain Andrew Peters with 2 wins each. Sally Colings, John Carling and Dave Pickup had a afternoon of close racing with 2 points separating all three by the close of racing.
Another big thanks to Bernie, Ernie and Neil for running the racing, and we look forward to next Saturday and the IOM STREBOR open event with racing starting at 10:00. All welcome.
