NEXT BMPRS MEETING SUNDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER

NEXT EVENT

Sheffield Underbank Reservoir on Sunday 23rd Sept 2018

As all members will be aware, our calendar has been wrecked this year, by cold weather and flooding early in the season and later, pond weed following an extended hot summer.

Please note that as a consequence the 2018 championship has been abandoned due to lack of qualifying races.

HOWEVER ALL IS NOT LOST

Sheffield is one of the few deep lake venues unaffected by weed. Mark Wild has kindly arranged for an exciting race day with a different format.

A CIRCULAR TO MEMBERS BELOW GIVES INFORMATION ABOUT THE FORTHCOMING EVENT.

“Dear BMPRS Member

Just to explain the changing details on the Web site, we are experiencing considerable difficulties this year with all the racing events, due to the severe and intrusive weed situation on all the inland small lakes which we use.

This is not just the BMPRS but many clubs and organisations have suffered the same problems, up and down the country.

With only 2 races completed, we have had to make the decision to cancel the championship for 2018 and the racing calendar and can only look forward to 2019.

The extremely hot weather has been the main culprit, and whilst this has been fantastic for our family social events and barbecues, has been disastrous for our Hobby.

All is not lost however, Sheffield which is a great lake, and with Marks’s persistence are allowing us a full day for our events on Sunday the 23rd of September, which we will call a fun day and all BMPRS members are more than welcome.

It will also give us the opportunity to try some new and exciting racing formats, but this is purely for fun, and not connected with any championship pressure.

We are also adding a new Endurance section, just as an experiment, with classes to include all nitro and petrol engines.

Morning Heats (Includes all Petrol and 11cc+ Nitro engines. D = MONO HULLS, T = CATS)

D    class 15mins

T2   class 10 mins

D    class endurance 25mins

T2   class endurance 20mins

 Lunch

Afternoon heats (Includes all Petrol and 11cc+ Nitro engines. D = MONO HULLS, T = CATS)

D    class   15mins

T2   class   10 mins

D    class endurance   25mins

T2   class endurance   20mins

Entry costs will be £8.00 per boat. This fee should balance race day running costs against member’s outlay and hopefully give some superb entertainment which remains good value for all.

The all new Endurance races are a separate challenge to all members!

Not forgetting anyone wishing to participate in the endurance section, you will need considerably more fuel.

Anyone wishing to bring along any boat, either nitro or petrol, will be given the opportunity to run throughout the day, as we have a fully equipped rescue boat and licensed crew.

IMPORTANT

If you are entering can you please, contact Mark Wild one week before the event to allow all the paperwork to be sorted, and with the following details.

Boat Manufacturer

Class (Mono or Cat)

Engine Glow or Petrol

Engine size

Membership Number

Heats or Endurance or both

RADIO CONTROL UNITS

Please confirm your radio is 2.4 GHz, or if the older type please list frequency / band. Also confirm your radio / model has a working throttle failsafe.

We believe this will be a fantastic day out for all our members and our Hobby, and look forward to seeing as many people as possible.

If successful the new formats may be introduced for 2019 dependent on your feedback.

There will be some cash prizes or trophies up for grabs, so please come along and support this great hobby, and your Society.

Although 2018 has been a disappointing year for many hobbies, as a Society we have every confidence this great hobby will continue to flourish in 2019, and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Please keep a careful eye on our web site which is constantly changing.

NB:  Also the AGM will need to be moved in terms of venue as the RAOB has gone into administration. There are alternatives and we will advise members in the next few weeks.
