IOM Handicap 23/04/2016 – Results

The first IOM handicap of the season saw sunshine and a cool breeze blowing almost straight down the lake. For most of the day this remained towards the top end of Number 1 rigs ensuring fine sailing for the 18 sailors that competed.

As intended in the handicap event, the racing was incredibly close and after 11 races there were very few points splitting the fleet.

I think for today it is worth publishing the full results rather than the abbreviated ones to show just how close things were – click on the table below to see full size.

IOM Handicap 23rd April

The IOM handicap event this coming weekend will be sailed with a 3 buoy handicap system to give everyone of different abilities a chance in each race.

For the first race of the day, the fleet will all start together and race to buoy 1. This is the “seeding race” and is not scored in the final results.

For the 2nd race, the fleet will be split into 3 groups based on results in the first race. All start together, but race to separate windward marks (fastest group going to most distant mark)

For subsequent races, the first 2 boats from each group move up a buoy and the last 2 boats move down a buoy.

First race starts at 1pm.

Open Events Update

Entry lists for the RG65 Open, IOM Veterans Nationals and the IOM Nationals have all been updated. If you have entered any of these and your name is missing, please contact the Sailing Secretary to confirm the details.

If you haven’t already confirmed and paid for your entry for the IOM Nationals, your time is running out. We have 82 entries, 74 of those confirmed (paid).  Entry is restricted to 84 boats and will opened up to overseas entrants if any places remain at the end of this month.

Early entry for the RG65 Open  and the IOM Veterans  would be appreciated so we know the numbers to organise for in advance.
