IOM Club Championship 4, 26/5/12

A gusty 10-15 knot Easterly wind tested skippers with B rigs and large wind shifts. Racing at the front end was extremely close between the top 5 skippers with 4 different heat winners.

Next week sees Birkenhead skippers trekking south to Two Islands, Milton Keynes for the IOM National Championships with a 77 boat boat fleet.

Open 800 Racing 2, 26/5/12

Our second open day for small boats was held in warm sunny conditions with a gusting wind testing everyone. Some close racing was held over a half lake course with races shared evenly amongst both the Micro Magic and modified Victoria class yachts.

The next open day will be on 23/6/12.

This coming Saturday 26th May is the sencond day of open class racing for boats no longer than 800mm. Bring along your Micro Magic, Victoria, RG65 or anything else you wish to race that fits.

First race starts at 11.30am sharp with no racing starting after 1.00pm. Racing will be staged using a modified RYGGED system to handicap all to keep things close.
Round 4 of the IOM Club Championship will follow from 2.00pm sharp.

RM Hamburg Cup 19/5/12

A very light and fickle ENE wind made the conditions tough for the 8 skippers competing. The fleet welcomed another converted IOM skipper to RMs for the first time with Richard Hampson having a good first up day in second place after some close races at the front with Brad, Vernon and Jim.

IOM Club Championship 3, 12/5/12

Round 3 of the IOM Club Championship was sailed in a lovely NW breeze from 8-12 knots. Some close racing throughout the fleet with newer members showing solid improvements gained from competing in recent ranking races. Also a mention to Andrew Benson, our youngest club members who had some very solid placings throughout the day.

For any skippers interested in competing at this years Radio Marblehead National Championship at Fleetwood, Notice of Race is available and online entries can be made HERE through the MYA website. This event will feature some of the best skippers in the country and from abroad looking to fine tune their boats for this year’s upcoming World Championships in France.
Even if not entering why not plan to come up and have a look over the weekend 23-24 June.
