Birkenhead Radio Sailing & Power Club
After 8 rounds of close racing with 27 members and a handful of guests our Birkenhead IOM Winter Champions have been settled.
PRO Bill Culshaw kept racing moving at a cracking pace for the final race of the Birkenhead IOM Winter Series. A light NW breeze flowed down the middle of the lake for 16 skippers including guest Ken Binks from the Eastbourne club. Graham Elliott set the pace for the majority of the day and suffered finally through having to leave a couple of races short at the end. Brad Gibson took out the final race, making a clean sweep of the Winter Series but was pushed hard by Martin Roberts throughout the day.

Round 7 was sailed in a nice light A rig from the SSE. Some very close racing in the day with four different heat winners showing the evenness of the skippers. Thank you to both Colin Smith and Colin Galvin for braving the cold and giving us a good day sailing. The final round of the Birkenhead Club Winter Series is on Saturday 25th February with a prizegiving to follow racing for the series.

IOM Winter Series League updated including one discard
For anyone interested some members are planning an RM get together for next Saturday 18th February, keep your eye on the Message Board for any details.
Round 6 proved frustrating at times for skippers with a very light NW breeze fading as the day went on. Racing was stopped after 7 races when the breeze faded to nothing with only one discard on the day. Thanks to PRO Dave Wayt who kept racing moving in difficult conditions with the assistance of Jack Turner.
Next is the penultimate round of the IOM Winter Series at Birkenhead on 11th February. Why not come and join us?

Round 5 at Birkenhead saw a change in conditions to previous weeks with a return to A rigs for all skippers. 14 skippers, including 2 visitors, braved the sunny but frosty conditions for 10 heats. There was plenty of tight racing throughout the fleet with four skippers gaining heat wins and the evenness of the scores showing that the racing at Birkenhead is getting tighter by the week.

Round 4 of the Birkenhead Club IOM Winter Series was once again sailed in strong B rig conditions for the full afternoon with some variable wind shifts making life interesting. PRO Jim Findlay had skippers on their toes to get our full compliment of 10 races completed well before light started to fade. A total of 17 skippers started the New Year, with new member David Staniforth also adding to numbers. After a few breakdowns and early retirements, the scores were:
