Congratulations to MYA President, Derek Priestley on taking the Marblehead Veterans Crown.
A good days racing with 16 races completed in winds starting at 6 knots and ending on 13 knots gusting 15.
This lead to changes of rig during the day to save being too over powered.
There were a few drop-outs through gear failure during the day. Mostly these were all fixed by the time racing was finished, ready for the start of Ranker 4 on Saturday morning

The weather conditions tomorrow are not favourable to sail at West Kirby, with a moderate to fresh WNW wind forecast along with a high tide of 9.1 m at 13:05.
This may result in a tidal surge which could cover the Marine Lake wall and pontoons.
For safety reasons we are now going to sail at our club at Gautby Rd, start time 1pm.
Hope to see you all there.
Please note that these races will now take place at West Kirby Marine Lake with a revised start time of 11am.
This is an ideal warm-up session for the Veterans and Ranking events the following weekend and all MYA affiliated members are welcome to attend and join in the club racing.
Entries are flowing in nicely for the Marblehead Ranking event that the club is hosting at West Kirby on 16th/17th September and it looks highly likely that we will have the wonderful sight of 20+ boats racing on the lake.
For those that haven’t entered yet, there is still time and full details are available here
The Veterans Championships will also be held on the Friday of the weekend. Details on entering that are here
A small but eager group of M skippers gathered at the club for what turned out to be one of the best racing days of the season thus far.
Dave Potter was there with his latest Creed chined hull with an experimental shorter fin, Alan Watkinson with his Starkers, along with Bill Culshaw – Grunge and Brad Gibson with the 21 year old pimped Paradox.
C rigs were used for the day with a beautiful NW breeze blowing straight down the length of the lake. There were a few nosedives and close calls over the course of the afternoon with 14 races sailed.
In the end it was Brad (8 wins) who took out the day after a close battle with Bill (6 wins). Alan and Dave had some good moments and were far closer to the front end than the scores suggest.
In all a fantastic day of M racing at the club.
We look forward now to hosting the UK Marblehead Veterans and 2 day Ranking weekend at West Kirby’s marine lake and suggest anyone looking to see Radio Sailing at its best to get along and take a close look.
